Premiere of THE TRIAL 3 performance

On 13 December 2008 the artistic group of The Little Bit Different Theatre, attached to The Wings Association staged their newest premiere of THE TRIAL 3, an adaptation of Franz Kafka’s novel.  The event took place in the Theatre of Word and Dance, on 72 Dluga Street in Krakow. The place was chosen not accidentally; the spectators “summoned” for the trial had to descend into basements, like into a labyrinth, on steep and winding stairs. When they sat in the court room it turned out that there are three accused persons named Joseph K. This fact immediately provoked an avalanche of questions; one hero in three persons, or maybe three completely different ones; one story played endlessly or perhaps three separate cases? Everything is a matter of symbol and depends on the interpretation of a viewer – the participant of the trial.

Minimalistic scenography along with dim light of three bare electric bulbs reinforced the impression of unpleasant, harsh reality full of anxiety. What was the verdict; what do three Josephs see through the imagined windows in the final scene; what was the role of the mysterious, silent Puppetmaker in the whole case...? The performance does not provide ready answers or explanations; one has to find them by himself.

The event made a huge impression on everybody and it was received with standing ovation. In the foyer converted into court waiting rooms the witnesses kept discoursing about what they saw and heard till late hours. We will inform you about the dates and places of our next sessions.
